Getting Married in Vegas
So you're thinking about getting married in Las Vegas. Well, a lot of people do! Below are a few common questions with a some general answers about making you dream wedding come true while in Las Vegas!
I want to get married in Las Vegas, where do I start?
The most important thing you'll need (and really the only thing you need) is a marriage license from the Clark County Marriage Bureau. Also, don't forget your ID.
Where do I get a marriage license?
The Clark County Marriage Bureau is located at 201 Clark Avenue in Downtown Las Vegas. They are open open 7 days a week from 8am until midnight. Note: A marriage license allows a couple to marry in the state. It is not proof of marriage.
How much will a marriage license cost?
Only $60.00! They accept cash, cashier's check, money order, or credit card. They do charge a small fee for credit cards.
How long does it take once I get there?
On weekends or holidays you need to expect a wait. We do suggest filling out the paperwork ahead of time, this can save you an hour. Also, no appointment is needed, just show up with your money and partner!
What about getting a blood test?
These are not required.
Do I have to wait a day or so before I get my license?
No, they offer same day service. A marriage license is issued the same day a couple applies. There is no waiting period to get married after the marriage license has been issued. Marriage licenses are good for one year from date of issue.
How old do you have to be?
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and no nearer of kin than second cousins or cousins of half-blood, and not having a husband or wife living.
I'm divorced. Do I need to bring along any paperwork or proof?
If you have divorce papers, bring them. It will make the process easier. You need to know the month, year, city, and state in which it was final.
Can I get married and keep it a secret?
In the State of Nevada, marriage records are public documents.
