Summertime Guide in Las Vegas

Many of you have asked, so here are a few tips about spending the summer in Las Vegas. It is a very busy time of year and you can enjoy it more if you are prepared!

  • Keep in mind that your bags, purses, etc., can be searched especially when in an area of a large crowd. So make sure your contents are safe for the public around you.

  • Secure your money and your billfolds. Crooks love crowds and it does get crowded along the Strip, Downtown and in the hotels. Don't make yourself an easy target.

  • Stay hydrated! It's fun to drink in Las Vegas, but it is also easier to get dehydrated. Here's a great rule to follow... one adult drink for every 10 oz. of water consumed. You don't want to spend any of your vacation in your room sick or in the hospital.

  • Sun protection is a must. Apply sunblock at twice the rate you normally would if you were at the beach. It only takes 10 minutes to get burnt in the Las Vegas sun, plus temperatures are around 106* and your body's sweat evaporates immediately along with your sunblock. Hats and sunglasses are a must too, plus you'll look amazing at the pool!

  • Hit the hotel pools early! This helps with finding a spot for you and your travel buddies, plus you won't have to rent a cabana because those are the only available chairs. Call the front desk and ask what time the pool opens and try to arrive no later than 10:00-11:00am. Don't leave your towels on your chairs and leave, this method does not work. Plus, make sure to tip your pool attendant. They have to work in the heat all day.

  • Summer is a very popular time in Las Vegas for concerts and headline musicians. Make time in advance to review who is playing and enjoy a show or a concert in Las Vegas.

  • If you enjoy walking or running during your Vegas trips, we advise you to do it early in the morning if you like being outside. Past 9:00am it is already starting to get hot! Don't forget to checkout the hotel's workout facilities either. Chances are you are already paying for it in your hotel resort fee. Ask the front desk when you check in.

  • We love to eat dinner later and find restaurants which offer outdoor/patio seating. This is a perfect time as the sun starts to get lower in the sky. It's perfect warm weather!

  • Don't go barefoot anywhere! As soon as your feet hit the asphalt or concrete, you can suffer from burns. Even at the pool going to the restroom, bring something to wear on your feet.

  • Don't leave your cellphones out in the sun. They will overheat and not work, then you can't find your friends later, plus the heat, in general, drains your battery twice as fast, so keep that in mind.

  • If you are traveling with small children, make sure they drink water (not sugar drinks) all day and have sunblock on all the time. You don't want them sunburned or dehydrated. Trust us!

  • Most important is to have fun, stay safe and enjoy summer in Las Vegas!
